More About Me.

I’m a born and bred proud Novocastrian, outdoor lover, and Registered Psychologist.

I became a Psychologist in 2015 after completing a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours at the University of Newcastle.

Before I became a Psychologist, I worked as a Suicide and Crisis Support Counsellor. I have vast counselling experience and have worked in public and private practice settings. I’ve also worked for many years as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner and a Vocational and Career Development Counsellor at TAFE NSW. I am registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, AHPRA, and a member of the Australian Psychology Society (APS).

I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of psychological presentations including:

  • Trauma (complex and developmental and PTSD)
  • Anxiety and anxiety disorders (OCD, social anxiety and phobias)
  • Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar)
  • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
  • Neurodivergent/Neurodevelopmental Presentations (Autism, ADHD)
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Medically Unexplained Symptoms and Chronic Pain
  • Workcover related psychological Injuries
  • Stress and sleep difficulties
  • Self-doubt and self-esteem issues

I am passionate about my own self-development and self-care. I frequently partake in professional development training and attend regular professional and peer supervision to continue to improve and extend my expertise.

I believe that psychotherapy and inner work is essential for any practicing mental health therapist.

I celebrate, value, and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, bodies, and abilities. I am committed to empowering all clients and respecting different values and beliefs.

Therapeutic Approaches.

While I have training and experience in evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, my preferred therapeutic approach is Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).

Working within this framework, my clients can experience freedom from unresolved painful feelings resulting in improved overall health, vitality, and well-being. Taking a holistic approach, in addition to therapeutic modalities, I incorporate skills building into my intervention tailored to what is best for you including mindfulness, relaxation strategies, psychoeducation, social skills building, emotion regulation, communication skills, self-esteem, self-compassion skills, and resilience.
